Catherine Smith

"I want to extend my thanks to everyone involved for including me in the Network as well as my acceptance in the exhibition. I have been a working artist for the last 30-something years and I count this experience as one of my most enjoyable. I have had a chance to meet and experience other area artist to form alliances and take part in a learning community of widely and varied experiences and mediums. I count the networking aspect at a premium. Most especially I want to tell you the pleasure it was to receive my first press. I am working hard to complete my next project and the Network will be one of the first contacts I make when it is complete. Karen Brown (pictured below) and I will take part in a class offered by Lisa Jacenich in August and I hope to contact others I have had the pleasure to meet." Catherine Smith, CatesWear HandKnits , Clifton Forge

"It was a lovely exhibition opening. The reception was well done and the art well presented. I enjoyed visiting with so many old and new friends. Catherine Smith, Mike Gamble and I enjoyed being at the opening. It is indeed an honor to be a part of the exhibition. I am now selling my baskets in two new venues as well as the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center. Life continues to present opportunities and surprises." Karen Brown, Serendipity Basketry Covington

Mike Gamble

"I think the Network exhibition has been a wonderful opportunity. There are not a lot of ways for unknown artisans to have their work seen." Michael Gamble, MG Pottery Studio, Waynesboro

"I designed Lost Horizon to be an active piece of art. Air blowing across the wool elements creates the illusion of a whirlwind. Come with me to Shangri-La, a land of contrasting elements, of timelessness and finality, of beginnings and endings. The piece measures 6' x 4'and is inspired by James Hilton's book of the same name." Lisa Jacenich, Artful Gifts, Monterey, "Hand-made paper embellished with fibers"

Lynn Hilton-Coyners

"I felt truly honored being selected for an exhibition award. Makes me want to get in the studio and make more art. I thought the opening was very nice and I enjoyed seeing familiar faces of folks from the conference. Getting together keeps us connected and develops new friendships. I appreciate the opportunity to meet new and interesting craftsmen." Lynn Hilton-Conyers, Lyndhurst, "Raku wall plaques, multi-media surface decoration"

"We have a small shop in one of the most rural areas in Virginia and depend on our website for exposure to a wider audience. Being part of the ACN Exhibit has already helped us broaden our exposure. It is an honor to be included in the exhibit and to network with other crafts people in the region." Tate Swecker, Mariah Boone, Custom Estate and Vintage Jewelry , Monterey, "Unique jewelry using organic materials"

It was so great to meet with the many different artists and see what wonderful and unique pieces that each of them added to the event. A wonderful gathering!"
