Background
Incorporated in 1997, the Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV)
was established to create and maintain a statewide center dedicated to the work
of Virginia Artisans. Our mission is to raise awareness of craft and its contribution
to the culture of Virginia through exhibitions, education, and retail opportunities.
In 2006 the Artisans Center of Virginia received a grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community
Development (DHCD). The purpose of the project
was to establish a craft network in the rural areas of the following counties:
Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Botetourt, Craig, Highland, Roanoke, Rockbridge and
Rockingham. An exhibition and marketing conference were developed as part of this two year project which began in September 2006 and closed September 2008.
Counties Include: Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Botetourt, Craig,
Highland, Roanoke, Rockbridge and
Rockingham
