Deadline - Midnight, July 1, 2008

A submission is defined as a completed application and one optional image that arrive prior to the deadline. No revisions will be made to published listings or images after the deadline.

Venues, Artisan Studios

Submissions will be considered for those craft venues that sell work produced in the nine rural counties and those artisan studios located in the rural area of those counties. The word "studio" refers to any home based, or professional work environment such as a craft/artisan workshop with, or without a public showroom space. The word "venue" refers to a retail business such as a craft store, gallery, festival, museum, or like place of interest. If you provide a mailing address that does not reflect the location of your venue or studio, please contact the coordinator. Please note: The Artisans Center of Virginia reserves the right to reject any submission.

City Limits

The focus of this particular grant project is on the rural areas of nine counties. Artisan studios located outside of the city limits of Roanoke, Salem, and Harrisonburg may apply, however a population cap of 23,000 and above excludes listing artisan studios located within Roanoke, Salem, and Harrisonburg. Venues in all cities within the nine county region including Roanoke, Salem, Harrisonburg may apply if work from the rural areas is represented.

Optional Image

Only one (1) image will be accepted per applicant. A professional quality image is recommended. A maximum of only one (1) craft object per image is suggested. We recommend a square image (square aspect ratio). Please avoid outdoor and poorly lit, busy background environments. Use a well lighted, plain background such as continuous roll background paper as used for typical juried show applications. Venues might consider an image of the logo, or outdoor sign. We will accept a slide, photograph, CD, DVD, or file attachment (see below).

If you do not have the means to take a quality photograph of your work we can help. Please call 540-946-3294 for an appointment with Liz Moss, Director of Programs and Exhibitions, Artisans Center of Virginia. Liz will pleased to set-up a time and take a couple of shots of your work if you bring one sample to the Artisans Center in Waynesboro. Please schedule your visit ahead of time with Liz by phone, or write to liz@artisanscenterofvirginia.org.
